Director’s Statement
Eyes and sight. This is what I noticed the first time I read Oedipus. Logistically Greek plays always hit the audience over the head with plot points because a Greek audience going into the play already knew everything about it. Greek plays are based off Greek Traditional stories. However I took this idea that kept popping up in the play and made it into something else. The main concept that I was going for with this production came from one of the first lines in the show, "nature is at war with herself". I wanted the characters to emulate this as much as possible. Every character in this play inherently knows the truth of what has happened, but they are doing everything they can to fight the war against that knowledge, to fight against themselves.
